Introduction of Blodgett

The Blodgett oven company was founded by Gardner Springs Blodgett, an innovative plumber who ran his own business in Burlington, Link Building Company Vermont. In 1849, a local business man told Blodgett that the oven in his piece was not heating food properly; customers were complaining that the meat from the piece was cooked on one side but not on the other. So Blodgett and his partner built a wood-burning range that solved the tavern owner’s problems.

The success of Blodgett’s first oven increase quickly and soon piece owners from all around the Burlington area were requesting new and improved ovens. By 1854, Blodgett received his first patent for the improved baking oven and incorporated his business as G.S.Blodgett & Company.
